Here is a video interview I did at mRecruitingCamp. Wow! I am so grateful to be asked to participate in it. Muchos gracias to Dice and Sarah White. (Smile) What follows is an article provided by the good people over at Dice. Enjoy…
The night before the mRecruitingcamp conference in Atlanta, we quickly interviewed Jim Stroud as to what he would like to see for the future of mobile recruiting. We really liked his answer, so Sarah White (@imsosarah), blogger at the HRTechBlog, followed up to get a more detailed explanation of how he envisions the future of mobile recruiting.
Stroud wants a job seeker app that not only reads your online profile, but it also tracks what you write in technical forums. The app looks at a user’s online activity and sees what they’re interested in at that moment by what they posted in the forum. The app would then alert the user with a note that says, “You wrote about subject X, here’s a job that might interest you that involves subject X.” If interested, the app would let the user know that there are ten people in these various networks that can connect them to the company.
There are tools that send job alerts, but they don’t do it in real time. They’re not proactive in that they don’t read what you write and make a recommendation of a job based on that content.
If you’re an app developer, pay attention. This is a solution that’s sorely needed and it’s far from outrageous. If someone is writing something, then it means it’s top of mind with them and they’re probably passionate about that subject. It’s also a time they would probably be very receptive to a job opportunity that encompassed their passion.
