The Reason for the Long Weekend

NOTE: At some point, before bed, I read through 50+ news sources and share my findings here. If you like it, share it. If you don’t, share it. Follow my blog now to support my work or to find new reasons to complain about it. My opinions are my own. All tips are welcome. And if you have not already, help spread the message that people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

On Saturday, May 29, 2021, VP Kamala Harris tweeted to the American people to enjoy the long weekend. There was a near immediate backlash from social media. To quote RedState

America is in the middle of a three-day holiday weekend, which most of us in this country refer to as the “Memorial Day holiday weekend.” It’s a weekend meant to spend relaxing with family and friends, and remembering the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms we do today.

For government officials, especially, the weekend is supposed to be about honoring those heroes and amplifying respect and appreciation for them and their families, not indulging in the vapid narcissism we see so often on display by so-called “political leaders.”

But for Vice President Harris, this weekend was just a “long weekend” that gave her the opportunity to tweet a selfie…

If you click here, you will see a long list of tweets where people complained about her being tone deaf in forgetting the sacrifices made by our military and veterans. Rather than pile on, I much rather stay positive and offer up something that should have been tweeted instead. Click here to watch a video that celebrates our military as they are the reason for the long weekend. Enjoy.

God bless the American soldier.
