Do Fox News and Newsmax have integrity?
According to Wordnik, integrity is defined as a steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. I would add to that, it is being consistent with that code in public as well as private. To my great disappointment, two giants in conservative media seem to have failed the integrity test. Check out this quote from The Dossier…
Despite claiming to champion the cause of freedom from experimental medical treatments, conservative media outlets Fox News and Newsmax have created an incredibly punitive and coercive work environment for “unvaccinated” employees, while repeatedly stating otherwise in public forums.
The two corporations have not only been abiding by the infamous Biden “vaccine mandate” OSHA rule, Newsmax and Fox are going well above and beyond the minimum edicts presented to them by the federal government. Even as the “vaccine rule” remains legally contested (a U.S. appeals court temporarily blocked the measure this weekend), both organizations have implemented a series of COVID policies that treat “unvaccinated” workers as second class citizens.
On air and in print, the two networks have sent out high-profile employees to champion the claim that there is no COVID injection mandate, presenting themselves as defiant in the face of government overreach.
However, internal documents reviewed by The Dossier show that both corporations are running a relentless coercion campaign to pressure employees into taking COVID shots, while setting up discriminatory structures for those who choose not to show proof of having complied. Failure to comply will result in discriminatory sanctions, such as having to wear a mask in the office ( “vaccinated” employees do not need to do so), and even subjecting “unvaccinated” employees to a COVID test before being granted clearance into the building.
The hypocrisy of these two organizations on this issue is appalling and seriously endangers their credibility to the freedom-loving patriots they covet. For many people on the right, covid is more about government overreach than public health. If we have no right over our own bodies, what else can the government force us to do for the greater good of all? Here’s a thought, they can come into our homes and remove family members they suspect of having Covid under the auspice of public health. Sound crazy? Consider this.
Dr. Michael Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization’s Health Emergencies Program, suggested during a March 30 press conference that individuals infected with the Chinese coronavirus should be removed from their homes to prevent further spread of the deadly disease. I wanted to ask; we’ve seen some different approaches to quarantine in China and in European countries with group quarantine used to good effect in China. Do you think that home quarantine will be as effective anywhere for people who are positive, or would central quarantine be needed in order to have the same success that China has had?
In his response, Dr. Michael Ryan said the following…
…Right now, we don’t have an alternative to what we would have considered, in the old days, bootleather epidemiology: public health practitioners, doctors, nurses, community workers working with communities to detect cases at community level. And the most likely person to become a case is someone who’s been a significant contact of another case, and at the moment, in most parts of the world due to lockdown, most of the transmission that’s actually happening in many countries now is happening in the household at family level. In some senses, transmission has been taken off the streets and pushed back into family units. Now we need to go and look in families to find those people who may be sick and remove them and isolate them in a safe and dignified manner, so that’s what I was saying previously; the transition from movement restrictions and shutdowns and stay-at-home orders can only be made if we have in place the means to be able to detect suspect cases, isolate confirmed cases, track contacts and follow up on the contacts’ health at all times and then isolate any of those people who become sick themselves.
Now, just for giggles, Google “following CDC guidelines” and scan how many businesses are complying with standards set by the CDC. What if the CDC (or in this case – the World Health Organization) said it was in the public interest for the police to raid your home and remove your relatives because they suspect that they might have covid. (And even if they did have covid, they were isolated from the public.) Do you think the government would not abide by the recommendation of the CDC or WHO? And if the government did act on such a recommendation from a health authority, would that seem tyrannical to you or justifiable to keep people safe?
In case you are on the fence, let me ask it a different way. If you are on a boat, alone, in the middle of the ocean and not wearing a mask, would it be tyrannical to fine you and have you arrested? If you were playing catch with your daughter in a near empty park, would it make sense for police to arrest you for not social distancing? If you were in your car with the windows rolled up, worshiping God in a church parking lot should the police be allowed to harass you? What if you were told that singing was prohibited, even if you were singing on a livestream? What if you were not allowed to watch the sunset?
I could list other examples, but hopefully you get my point. There are times when the government can go too far and unless boundaries are set, all freedoms will evaporate. You have the ultimate authority over your body, not the government. But, I digress. I started this off ranting about Fox News and Newsmax. In the same article I mentioned from the onset, Blaze Media and The Daily Wire were pointed out as companies true to their stated convictions. To quote…
Blaze Media and The Daily Wire have struck a more defiant tone. Both have expressed their public opposition to the Biden rule, with top executives from the organizations publicly stating that they have no intention on imposing a similar mandate on their employees. The latter outfit is currently organizing a legal campaign to defeat the measure in court. Pending legal challenges, the Biden Administration has set its OSHA rule to commence on January 4, 2022.
I think Blaze Media and The Daily Wire are passing a litmus test that lovers of liberty appreciate. Pretty soon, other conservative outfits will have to announce their position on Covid mandates that many see as draconian or, risk losing credibility with their audience. It is a pretty slippery slope. Time will tell which right wing outlets survive it.
