The Government Wants to Track Your Religion and Medical Status. Why?

The Government Wants to Track Your Religion and Medical Status. Why?

The Liberty Counsel Action dropped a bombshell news story in early February 2022 that has been ignored by almost everyone. I have only just heard of it. Here is a shocking quote.

LC Action uncovered at least 57 rule changes in 55 federal departments and agencies that have launched a new, permanent government database to track religious employees and applicants who request any exemptions. In some agencies, the religious exemption requests are not limited to the COVID shots. The list is tracking any request for religious exemptions.

These lists will create an entire dossier on each religious person.

The Treasury Department states it will document all requests and denials and track the “informal dispute resolution” of each person. It will also record “correspondence,” “supporting notes and documentation” and even “records of oral conversations” on every person who requests an exemption … permanently.

This is huge, but it doesn’t stop there!

The largest branch in the U.S. military, the Army, was the first department we found launching this new program in April 2021. They are not content to just record the “religious preference” of their staff. They are pairing that information with biometric data like fingerprints and digital photographs.

Fortunately, someone was paying attention and responded with the “Religious Freedom Over Mandates Act” (HR 6502) that, if passed, will reverse this name gathering. What follows is a press release concerning the Act.

Rep. Ralph Norman and Rep. Ashley Hinson Introduce Religious Freedom Over Mandates Act

On Tuesday, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC-05) and Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA-01) introduced the Religious Freedom Over Mandates Act. This legislation would prohibit the use of federal funds from being used to keep records or a database of religious exemptions from COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

Background

Throughout 2021, the Biden Administration attempted to implement several vaccination mandates, which brought legal challenges on multiple fronts. The OSHA mandate, for example, was recently stayed by the U.S. Supreme Court. Meanwhile, a separate mandate for millions of federal employees and contractors is still working its way through the courts.

Despite the ultimate outcomes of these legal challenges, this legislation would prohibit federal funds from being used “to establish, operate, maintain, or support any system of records” for individuals who seek a religious exemption from a federal COVID-19 vaccine requirement. This means federal funds could not be used to maintain any records of an individual’s request for a faith-based exemption, such as his/her religion, religious beliefs, or religious justification for the exemption. This would also preclude the government from using taxpayer dollars to create a religious registry based on COVID-19 vaccine exemption requests.

This legislation has received the support of both FreedomWorks and Heritage Action for America.

Statements

“The ability for individuals to openly practice their faith without fear of retribution is a precious right we must guard closely,” said Rep. Norman. “As if overreaching government vaccine mandates aren’t bad enough, it is highly inappropriate for federal dollars to be used to collect information about someone’s religious beliefs. The only way to prevent this information from being abused is to prevent its collection in the first place, and I thank Rep. Hinson for joining me in this effort.”

Congresswoman Hinson added, “Those who choose not to get the COVID-19 vaccine for religious reasons should be able to do so without fear of the government putting their information in a database. Any form of database tracking religious beliefs flies in the face of our First Amendment—U.S. citizens are guaranteed the right to make their own medical decisions without fear of government reprisal. The Religious Freedom Over Mandates Act will ensure that no federal funding is used to track those who opt for a religious exemption from the COVID-19 vaccines.”

I looked up the status of the bill and as of this writing, it is still in the first stage of the legislative process with 21 Co-sponsors (all Republican). Please make some noise about this by signing this petition, contacting your Senator, state representatives and/or calling into national talk shows and ask them their thoughts on the matter. Public awareness on this is EXTREMELY low and if you happen to feel indifferent to what the government is doing, consider this brief history lesson from CBN News.

Liberty Counsel Action Chairman Mat Staver said, “IBM created a database of the Jewish people in Europe. Using this database, Nazis were able to identify the Jews and prohibit them from public and then private employment. This database is what enabled Nazis to round up those targeted for ghettos and concentration camps. The federal government has started its own database on Americans of faith. We cannot allow this to happen. We cannot allow a federal database categorizing people by their religion or medical status. What possible good can be accomplished by these government lists? I cannot think of one.”

Well said Mat Staver, well said.
